Focus & Pursuit II

Focus & Pursuit II

"No weapons formed against you shall prosper..." amen!! I'm in total agreement with the practical reality of this statement above as a believer but I dare ask; what about weapons you formed against yourself?? Think about it. From February we've been looking at  vision and now the power of focus & pursuit. It's been a wonderful series by our contributors so far. So you might wonder, "What's the relationship between weapons and focus/pursuit?" In here lies our brief convo today, when we talk about the word "focus", we tend to downplay the possibility of focusing on things that might be harmful to us too. We've successfully cleared your vision statement, now it's time for the next level. If you've ever used the zoom option of your phone's camera you'll agree with me that anything you "zoom in" on becomes bigger, magnified, bolder and sometimes appears to be all that there is to the whole picture/image. Your ability to achieve what you see lies in the degree at which you ignore distractions around. So I'll ask, where's your focus?? What are you actually pursuing?? The mind is a beautiful place, a clean canvas where you can easily create but find it more difficult to recreate or edit images/memories etc. Young people tend to create tools/weapons that are self-sabotaging as they grow, an example; so you're currently in a rough place emotionally & mentally and you make essential life decisions from that state of mind thereby creating a stumbling block in your future, albeit unknowingly. The foundation of these always begins when we give more attention to our failures, our "near victories", weaknesses and challenges. Today we're not really about what to focus on, sometimes to properly decipher what to do you need to know what not to do.  You have to always remember that Jesus didn't say life here will always be smooth without trials & challenges, he did say they will come but he'll be with us through it all.  We can acknowledge the challenges around but we'll have to set our eyes on his goodness, pursue excellence, holding fast to our dreams in the midst of the storm, adjust, upgrade and keep moving.  Learn from your failures, do not make/form philosophies or principles from only the negatives in your low moments.  Set goals and ensure you meet them, discover the distractions and starve them, let all you do be geared towards your vision, be intentional about living life.  All things work together for good for them that love God and are the called according to his purpose, you're equipped supernaturally, never loose sight of that.
