When To Get A Mentor.

When To Get A Mentor.

In the previous episode of this series we talked about who a mentor is. If you haven't read it, click here >>> mentorship

If you want to be ahead in your career, finance and other wise as a young person, it's expedient and wise not just to have but to diligently follow someone who already has an evident result of where you dream/envision yourself to be in years to come. The aim is to help get you there without having to make the mistakes he/she made before achieving theirs.

Just like if you are serious about loosing some weight and getting results. You haven to get a coach to help you through the process, tell you what to do and what not to do. Why? Because you trust his capacity and his results too. They know better and will help you achieve it faster and better. Unlike when it's just you.

Same way, in my opinion, every young person needs a mentor/coach for career, finance, marriage/relationship and for spiritual growth as well. So let's get down to it, shall we?

The Right Time To Get A Mentor:

  • When You Are Ready To Follow Diligently; You must decide to be diligently teachable (if there's any word like that, but i'm sure you get the message). Until you are teachable, you don't need a mentor.

  • When You Have A Clear Picture Of Why You Need This Person In Your Life; Having a mentor is serious business. It's not for fun. You must be specifically aware of why you need them in your life and what they are going to help you with. They are either helping or training you to achieve your goal or not! So be sure of this before you get one.

  • When You Are Ready To Arrive At Your Goal Earlier Than It Should Take Normally; Calm down, i'm not ruling out 'process' in achieving your dreams. What I mean is, if you were going to achieve that goal in 1 year, your mentor knows what you'll do to achieve it in 6 months. Here's why; he already tolled through that path and knows where the pitfalls and unnecessary delays are. That's why you must follow someone that has gained mastery (to a reasonable extent) of the path which you must go through.

I'm sure this will help you know the right time. We all should have goals and dreams for every aspect of our lives as young people. However, in other to achieve them to the fullest, you should have a place for mentorship. Next week we will talk about 'HOW' to get a mentor. Very important part of this series. Lots of Love from me.

Don't forget to comment and share. I God bless you.
