MONEY AND GIVING: The Balance Between.

MONEY AND GIVING: The Balance Between.

One of the reasons you seek and work to be wealthy is to be empowered to help other people. You work so you can help those in need and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, you are encouraged to do so. Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has a need- Eph 4:28 NKJV.

The problem begins when you you do not apply financial wisdom when doing this. You begin to help people even to the detriment of your finances. Your emotions are now attached to your money. Money and Emotions do not go together. Once you begin to attach emotions to the way you deal with finances, you will not be able to make the right and hard decisions necessary for your finances because your emotions are attached.

I'll be examining two remedies for this.

Setting Out a Percentage of Your Income: When you have received your income either daily, weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly; you have to make sure to budget what percentage will go into Charity. It is not wise to leave it to chance. You'll become broke before your next pay. Not only broke but also, you will not be able to build anything sustainable financially for yourself. People will ALWAYS be in need no matter how many times you give out money so you can't bury yourself just because you are trying to keep someone else alive. When your charity limit or budget is finished, do not attach emotions and begin to help everyone that comes after that. You have financial goals that you set up at the beginning of the year for yourself and I'm almost sure that this is one of the reasons you haven't been able to keep up with them and achieve your financial goals. Wise up!

Investing: The essence of this is to have multiple streams of income. When you have this, you are empowered to help more people than you would if you were only living from paycheck to paycheck. In the morning sow your seed, And in the evening do not withhold your hand; For you do not know which will prosper, Either this or that, Or whether both alike will be good- Eccl 11:6 NKJV. If you have this, you can dedicate the profit or a certain percentage of the profit from a particular stream of income to charity. This way, your main source of income isn't disturbed.

I'm in no way discouraging you from giving or lending a helping hand to people who are in need. You've got to have a fire on your candle and make sure it is stable enough to be able to help light the candle of other people. You cannot draw water to give to others when your well is dry. The goal is to be wise! Don't let another year pass and you begin regretting your financial decisions.
