Hey dear! Nice to have you here again... So let's continue from where we stopped. If you haven't read the Part 1 of this post please click >>HERE!!<< to understand this particular post better.

So as a believer what should we do concerning music?? Before answering that, another interesting thing for believers is the question of "Source" or inspiration, don't get it twisted anyways, this applies also to some gospel songs, the source of some gospel tunes are far from Christ & the church; sales, fame & fortune play a major role for some. Therefore consumption of this soul food especially from unknown sources should be treated with care.

As believers it is advised that our flesh should be under the authority of the spirit, there's need for good secular music(songs about love, life, justice, nature etc) but our menu & consumption should always be under check. Music shapes our thoughts, moods, outlook to life and basically our lives, so when the Bible talks about speaking to each other in psalms, hymns and spiritual songs it should be noted as a highly important exercise for our growth and life as believers.

"Pray without ceasing" is a commandment from the scriptures and we know that we can pray with songs as we call it "praise & worship", it is a useful tool for our victory in life and eternity, so when you feed your soul and spirit with spiritual sounds to equip yourself for battles seen and unseen and sets your heart in a mode of thanksgiving and continuous gratitude.

I think believers have a challenge of content, the artistes involved and different genres of music, we want more. Using a hip-hop head like me for example, I have a constant hunger for dope rap songs which never gets fully quenched by hours of listening to "R & B - themed" gospel or even the traditional African-American styled gospel songs which is totally different from ours down here anyway, a topic for another day.

This supposed challenge of content no longer exists, I doubt if it ever did though. When I got born again my thirst for Hip-Hop didn't die though, reasons best known to the Holy Spirit, he made a way. I discovered CHH(Christian Hip hop) like they call it but it's Hip-Hop anyways with a different message, the gospel majorly and about life too. Artists like Lecrae, Da T.r.u.t.h, Andy Mineo, KB HGA(internationally) & Limoblaze, Protek, Rooftop Mcs etc have been a blessing to my life. About genres, have you heard about Afro-gospel? Mad jams!! All I'm trying to say is that there are artistes for your kind of music in the gospel world, if you want to listen to secular songs, do it with your chest and don't give excuses for lack of content.

However, on our spiritual journey with the Holy Spirit, we have some varying terms and conditions when it comes to our purpose, callings and areas of influence, for some, these terms are permanent while for some others it's for a while until a certain level of growth is achieved, you know, God says he knows our form and make-up so it's not news that he always knows what's best from his point of view which we're most times blind to. So for Tolu (if he wants to truly walk fully in God's ordained path) he might not be allowed to have some of these good secular songs on his devices, or even dance to them while for Amaka she is occasionally allowed to listen at certain times and barred from it at other times, yeah that's why you seem not to really understand her sometimes, I hope you do now.

Meanwhile our love life appreciates some of these beautiful tunes done by artistes (secular and gospel) I won't deny that fact, let the spirit be your guide and remember you can only give out what you've fed your soul.

Do not forget that the quantity of gospel songs on your phone doesn't matter if you rarely play them when alone and also note that to lead a fulfilled Christian life, your relationship with the Holy Spirit is top priority, another day we'll talk about dance, till then I hope your speakers doesn't only praise God on Sundays.
