4 Tips That Will Help You Grow Spiritually.

It is a very cold morning, a day after Amaka made one of the biggest decisions of her life - she had given her life to Christ and accepted God's gift of Salvation. A question  that has lingered at the center of her heart is "After salvation, what next?" She has seen her Pastor perform miracles and his boldness convinces her that there is so much more she can explore.

This morning feels different as she wakes up joyful because she knew something had changed in her heart. She quickly kneels beside her bed and said a simple prayer. With the question of what happens afte salvation still in her heart, the Spirit of the Lord leads her to Jeremiah 29:13- You will seek me and find me when you seek me with the whole of your heart.

While Amaka thinks so deeply and wonders what these words could really mean, she is also excited that for the first time she has heard Him speak to her! Suddenly someone knocks on the door. "Who could this be, it is just 7am in the morning,"Amaka asks herself. She opens the door and to her greatest surprise it is Judith, her neighbor who introduced her to Jesus. Amaka excitedly welcomes her with a warm hug, and before she could even sit down Amaka with a worried face asked her friend, "Judith after Salvation what next?" Smiling, Judith answered Amaka with another  question, "Amaka after a child is born what next?  Amaka who just gave her life to Christ had always thought the things of God are so complex. She is waiting for Judith to say something beyond the understanding of mortal men, when Judith whispers, "The baby grows.  After Birth comes Growth. Amaka is startled at Judith's reply said, "That sounds simple!" Judith goes on to explain  that as a child is born, the child grows when the child feeds daily. Hence the new believer must give himself to daily feeding on the word and giving time to prayer. "Amaka you must make an intentional decision to take out time everyday to read your Bible and pray," Judith said.

 Amaka begins to give her time to the study of the word, her mind is renewed and transformed. The wrong notions and doctrines she has had about God are corrected and she is beginning to see herself more the way Jesus sees her. Church service is no more a religious activity, but a time she longs for to see God and worship with the brethren. Sometimes she slacks but comes back to daily fellowship again.

One month later, Judith (Amaka's Friend) becomes discouraged about her life. She had just lost her elder brother in a car accident and has been crying for days. Amaka is in her room praying when the Lord gives her specific words to speak to Amaka.  Amaka had been confused between her voice and the voice of the Spirit but today more than ever before, she is convinced it's the Holy Spirit. She refused to go feeling she is nothing compared to Judith and there is no way she is qualified to give Judith a word from God. The Spirit of the Lord be begins to drop scriptures in her heart, reminding her that she carries the Spirit of sound mind not of fear, reminding her that He had choosen her and not her choosing him. Her Spirit is lifted up as she goes into Judith's room drops the word God had given to her for Judith and more than ever before Judith receives strength to continue the race.

Are you asking same question? After Salvation what next?

The Scripture says 1Pet.2.2 - Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation.

After Salvation is Growth for the Believer. All that we see in the men that have gone ahead of us we can do too because we have received God's Spirit but for that to be actualise we must grow. Growth entails;

1. Prayer:  Just like in every normal relationship for their to be a string cord between two parties the two partners must be committed to speaking to each other. It's same with spiritual growth if we want to know more about our God we must make out time to speak to him and hear from him in the place of prayer.

2. Study God's word: Contrary to what many persons think about our God, our God is not a mystery that does not want to be known, if not he won't give 66 books that speaks about him. The whole scripture speaks about our God. 2Tim.3.16 - All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.

3. Going to Church and Fellowshipping with Believers:  Reading the scriptures is so important but going to church is paramount and truth be told there are certain scriptures we will never understand by ourselves. We need our pastors or leaders in church to explain better. From the new testament we see that Paul mostly wrote letters to Churches and not individuals and the few times he wrote to individuals it was to the Pastor of a church or a prominent member of the Church.

4. Doing the Lord's work: Preaching the Gospel and fulfilling God's purpose which is getting all men saved. It's important we know that in the Christian faith we learn on the job, we don't wait till we are perfect to do what the Lord has instructed us to do. Preach the Gospel!

Growth is a gradual process and you will never know how much you have grown. Be intentional about your Growth. God is God and he needs men yield yourself to him as he gradually makes you see yourself more and more like him. Remember Ps.115.16 - The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD'S: but the earth hath he given to the children of men.
